A River Runs Through It | Seasonal Transition Styles
There's something about nearby natural bodies of water that leaves us breathless. Whenever we need an afternoon to decompress‚ we pack up and head to the river, the Russian River. Surrounded by a wooded valley full of redwoods, oaks, and furs—the river is ripe with mother natures gifts. Although we love our local NorCal beaches, the river's our preferred summer escape to disconnect and bathe in bliss. Just a ten minute drive from town, we are #blessed to be so close to our outdoor sanctuary.
Whether you prefer to float downstream or sit and skip rocks, the river welcomes you with open arms and branches and leafed limbs. Bring a bottle of wine and charcuteries to-go for a luxe waterfront picnic. If you prefer a bit of shade, a beach umbrella does the trick. Also, a pair of pool slides make the trip in and out of water a smoother, softer experience for tender feet. It can get crowded on hot summer/ early fall weekends, so try and plan a weekday getaway for the full laid back river experience. Bring blankets, towels, lawn chairs, and a cooler full of drinks to keep you hydrated and comfortable in the heat. And if you need a nearby snack, check out the taco truck in Guernville (located in the Safeway parking lot) for our favorite giant to-go burritos (great for sharing!) or whined down post soak at Backyard in Forestville with some top notch farm to table pot pie.
And when it comes to river style, anything goes. From easy one piece outfits like our new fall dresses, to bathing beauty separates—comfort and leisure are key to a golden afternoon. Stuff your necessities into a jumbo tote and hit the foliage fringed highway for a day of fun in the sun. Just remember to schedule a siesta cause the river has magical sleeping powers thanks to the healing current and influx of Vitamin D. The river will recharge your batteries and inspire your senses, scouts honor. Come visit the shop and swim in the river before the summer sun fades! And check out our favorite summer to fall transitional pieces below (just add layers for an instant fall ensemble)!
